Demand for quality fake lawn material is rapidly growing across Australia. This means that there are a growing number of options to choose from. In order to help you navigate these options and technical specifications we have put together a guide to choosing and maintaining your synthetic grass in Sydney.
Lawn specifications
With regards to the actual lawn itself, there are a number of features and characteristics to choose from.
Pile height: This is the literal height of the lawn itself. There are a range of options available. In our residential and commercial fake grass options the pile height ranges from 25 to 40mm. When deciding, consider how lush or trimmed you want the lawn to appear. This should help to narrow down your lawn height options.
Colour: People often see synthetic grass in Sydney simply as being green; however manufacturers will often incorporate multiple shades and types of green to create a more genuine look. Our Carnival CR 40 for example uses four different colours in it to create a genuine lawn replica.
Density: The density of the lawn also changes how it feels. Look out for stitches per square metre to compare the different densities available.
Installation: DIY or Professional
Installing synthetic grass in Sydney can be done via a professional installation service or by yourself. If you are interested in doing it yourself it is strongly advised you closely follow DIY instructions. However, if the job is highly complex or you are not interested in attempting to install the lawn yourself, it can be done professionally.
Cleaning and Maintenance
After you have chosen and installed your synthetic grass in Sydney it is important to keep it clean and maintained. We recommend a few key tips:
Regular brushing and raking: This will clean away any leaves and dirt that has accumulated and help to keep the blades straight. This should be done regularly as it becomes more and more difficult as the lawn gets dirtier.
Avoid permanent heavy objects: Constantly having sharp or heavy objects on your fake lawn can damage the blades and base of the lawn. Regularly remove trampolines, playhouses or any other heavy equipment that may be sat on the lawn for long periods of time. If objects are not regularly moved the lawn can become permanently dented or discoloured, thus ruining the lawns consistency and aesthetic quality.
Avoid barbeques or cookers: Hot objects such as barbeques are not only excessively heavy and can damage the lawn that way, but can also be problematic due to the radiating heat. The heat, oil and embers that come from barbeques can discolour and even melt the lawn material. It is thus not advised to use them on fake lawn installations.
We hope that this clears up any confusion as to the technical terms or considerations that should be made when buying or maintaining a faux lawn.
